Abstract

This project proposes an in vitro macrophage-based model as an alternative to animal testing for evaluating biomaterials. THP-1 monocytes are differentiated into macrophages and used to simulate inflammatory responses through cytokine analysis.

This model demonstrates how biomaterial biocompatibility for medical devices can be assessed using a controlled, ethical, and scalable system, providing an alternative to animal testing.
