Abstract

This project explores the mechanical characteristics of medium-viscosity alginate hydrogels with CaCO3 and GDL using Rheology. In this context, hydrogels are being used as a scaffold to hold islet cells to treat Type I diabetes. The objective is to better quantify the gelation timing and mechanical properties of varying concentrations of CaCO3 and GDL components.
